Chardonnay Hillside 2019

Harboring back to an age of "old style" California Chardonnay, the 2019 vintage has the silky buttery essence throughout the aromas and palate. The nose starts out with the quintessential fresh apple and ripe pear, moving into the El Dorado terrior of lemon/lime citrus. And then comes hints of butterscotch.

El Tinto Lot 39 Case Special

One of the biggest and softest El Tinto's we have ever produced, the balance on this blend is everything we could ask for.  With a large wallop of Zinfandel, the red and black fruit abound in the nose and the palate alike.  The aromas of sweet home-canned cherries come forth out of the glass while more subtle rhubarb and strawberry notes fill in the edges.  Hints of cedar mixed with black pepper and sweet and savory spices round out the bouquet.  The palate follows nicely, fulfilling the promise of richness.  The entry is more complex than just ripe cherries, with soy sauce and umami characters adding a bit more.  The mid-palate is graceful and seamless, with cherry and brambly fruit carrying into the lingering finish of fruit.  One can defininitely taste the essence of Zinfandel in the Lot 39, but it's also definetly NOT Zin!  This wine is something to embrace and explore as a blend of many!  Cheers!

Grenache Hillside 2018

A medium to full-bodied Grenache, the varietal strawberry and red currant fruit leaps from the glass.  Rounded on the entry, the wine finishes with more structure than warmer-region expressions.  Another reason for loving mountain-grown!

Merlot Hillside 2017

Expecting something light and fruity?  This isn't your Grandma's merlot.  Classic dark cherry and ripe plum flow through a palate that is elegant, rich and structured.  With hints of earthiness, this is the quintessential food wine with grilled meats and mushrooms, and shows why Merlot is a great variety.

Nebbiolo Hillside 2017

This premiere Italian variety grown in our mountain vineyards is rounded and tannic at the same time.  While the lighter color of the wine builds expectations of something light, this is Nebbiolo - bold and extracted.  Dried spice and dried fruit characters abound in the 2017 vintage with a rich and youthful experience.

Riesling Hillside 2019

This off-dry expression of our mountain Riesliing once again embraces the complexity of the variety while showcasing the region. The ripe, Bartlett pear aromas just really fill the glass adding in luscious peach and a pinch of cardamom with each swirl of the wine. Fresh apricot and tree-ripened apple characters carry through to a sweet honeysuckle backbone which just opens up more and more in the nose. Oh and by the way, that wonderful tart lemon zest on the finish is the incredible El Dorado minerality.

Zinfandel Hillside 2016 Madrona

This briary and balanced Zinfandel highlights the complexity of the variety.  Raspberry, cherry, black pepper and boysenberry envelop the senses while spotlighting that there is a "hella-lot" more to Zin than overripe, jammy characters.
